ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca firefighters were called Tuesday afternoon to help a woman with a hurt ankle out of first dam, a dispatcher confirmed

Officials were called to the scene around 3:20 p.m. and are still at the scene.

A witness said the woman jumped from a ledge about 12-feet high to an area that’s about five or six feet deep. She appeared to injure her ankle.

Firefighters were assisting her out of the gorge until just past 4 p.m. Some traffic delays were reported near the unofficial trail head to first dam, located just before the intersection of Giles and Water streets.
