ITHACA, NY – Amuse: Modern Cottage Industry will be celebrating our 2 year anniversary with Handmade in America Fest this Friday July 1, 5-9pm in Press Bay Alley!

Amuse is an Etsy inspired gift shop featuring all American designed and produced goods.  Everything in the store is playful, vibrant, and sassy and less than $50! The selection is predominately handmade items, but it is not your grandma’s craft store.  Modern, bright, and unexpected products set Amuse apart from the crowd and are sure to bring a smile to your face.Amuse was born out of the love of creating.

Amuse owner, Kristina Thelen, discovered the joy of designing and making things at a young age.  She dreamed of opening a shop of affordable and interesting designs to showcase the plethora of talent that exists in the Maker Movement.  This movement is a paradigm shift in consumerism toward smaller, domestic, and local commerce that helps create a healthy and vibrant community.

Handmade in America Fest is an annual event put on by Amuse to showcase the local makers that sell at the store year round plus a few additional artists from the area that are just breaking into the Maker Movement scene.

There will be 20 different vendors showcasing their comprehensive collections from soaps to cookies to hats to candles.  There will also be a book signing for popular local maker Katie Vaz’s newly published coloring book Don’t Worry Eat Cake. Sit and enjoy some vegan comfort food by The Star Truck.

Bop around the Alley to music by local DJ Jeannette Luther.  And don’t forget to get your face painted by local artist Kristin Leigh Dutcher.

It is also Press Bay Alley’s 2nd anniversary and all the Alley businesses are staying open late!  Boxy Bikes will be offering free Family Electric Bike demos.  At Press Café, try their new Fresh Hibiscus Rose Hips Sparkles Iced Tea.

Bramble Community Herbalism has tasty seasonal fruit leather strips for sale. Life’s So Sweet Chocolates has Fun Fourth of July candy boxes filled with milk and dark chocolate covered peanuts on special for $9.99 and Draft Beer Jelly Belly Jelly Beans are $2.69.  And of course, don’t forget to stop in to Amuse to say Happy Birthday!
