ITHACA, NY – A woman was flown by helicopter and two children were taken by ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital Friday, after the minivan they were riding in struck a tree.

The call came in just after 7 p.m. for a one vehicle accident in the 200 block of Coy Glen Road in the Town of Ithaca. Ithaca Firefighters and Bangs Ambulance responded along with Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies and Ithaca Police and found a minivan off the road, badly damaged. Two young children were able to get out of the vehicle, but the driver was still trapped inside.

Ithaca Firefighters and Bangs Ambulance personnel worked to free the driver who had multiple lacerations and a head injury. Another crew checked the children over for injuries. All were taken to Robert Packer Hospital due the severity of the crash. The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.
