Ithaca, NY (May 6, 2016) – Science Cabaret will be hosting a free program about antibiotics and antibiotic resistance. The event “A love affair with antibiotics” takes place on Tuesday, May 17, at 7:00 p.m. at Coltivare, located on 235 S. Cayuga St., Ithaca, NY.
The May Science Cabaret will feature: Frank Schroeder, Chemist; Avery August, Immunologist; John Helmann, Microbiologist; Ludmilla Aristilde, Environmental Chemist; Craig Altier, Molecular Biologist.
All are welcome at this free event (first come, first serve) to gain a quick perspective on the many facets of antibiotic resistance via experts from multiple disciplines. You will be prescribed a course of stimulating dialogue that will alleviate your anxiety and provide you with scientific variety as you rotate between the experts. Consult with them on anything you want to know about antibiotic resistance. What is antibiotic resistance and why should you care? Where did it all go wrong and how should we change our behavior? What does the future hold for our relationship with antibiotics? Might we find someone new? Was it our use of prescription drugs that ruined the relationship?
What: Science Cabaret is a live—and lively—event in a casual setting: and here in Ithaca they are held at Coltivare, a bar, restaurant and event space on 235 S. Cayuga Street. There is no stuffy lecture or slideshow—the speakers present thescience in lay terms and facilitate a dynamic conversation with a diverse audience.

Note: Cash bar, you can also come early for dinner, order from a limited menu during the program, or stay late for dinner/snacks. Don’t forget on Tuesday from 4-7pm at the bar when you order one draft beer you get one FREE!
