Emergency Responders were kept busy Monday as the winter weather may have played a roll in multiple car accidents in the area. It started around 7:45 a.m. when a car went into a ditch on Route 13 near the East Shore Drive ramp.
No one was injured but Paramedics from Bangs Ambulance had to assist the occupant out of the vehicle which ended up on it’s side.
Then, just before noon, two cars collided near the entrance to Ithaca College in the Town of Ithaca.
One of the drivers declined medical care and chose to get a ride from a friend to the hospital. The Tompkins County Sheriff’s department is investigating the cause of that accident.
Finally, just before 2:00 p.m. Ithaca firefighters and Bangs Ambulance personnel were sent to the intersection of Mecklenburg Rd and Sheffield Rd for another one car accident.
The driver in this accident was seriously injured. She was taken by ground to Robert Packer Hospital in P.A. for her injuries after a helicopter was requested but could not fly due to the weather. The Sheriff’s department is investigating the cause of that accident as well.
