Update at 2:56 p.m. — Two residents put out a porch fire at a Collegetown home Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 2:04 p.m. at 111 Osmun, a 911 dispatcher said.

The Ithaca Fire Department, Ithaca police and Bangs Ambulance all responded to the scene where a small fire started on a second-floor porch.

Resident Sarah Le Cam, who lives in an apartment at the building, said another resident notice smoke coming from the porch and the two rushed to find the cause of it.

She said they  found the fire, called 911 and then used a fire extinguisher and pots full of water from the sink to put out the flames.

Five people live in the apartment and, Le Cam said, none of them were home when the fire started.

As of about 3 p.m. Ithaca firefighters are still at the scene investigating the cause of the incident.
