ITHACA, NY – Tompkins County 4-H along with CCETC Compost Fair prepare for the 16th Annual Cascadilla Duck Race and Color Splash Run Race on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.!

At 2 p.m., Over 3,000 bright yellow rubber ducks will tumble over the falls and float down Cascadilla Creek to the finish line at the Cooperative Extension, on 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca.  The first 50 or more ducks to cross the finish line will win one of over $15,000 worth of prizes. At the finish line there will be a festival with food, games, prizes, and live entertainment!  All proceeds benefit the Tompkins County 4-H Youth Development Program, including 4-H Clubs, Rural Youth Services, 4-H Urban Outreach and Primitive Pursuits.

Stop in at the fourth annual Compost Fair, held in conjunction with the 4-H Duck Race, to see and experience all aspects of composting. Teams of Master Composters will be on hand to answer your questions. There will be music, food, interactive displays, and activities for kids and continuous tours of our composting demonstration site. Prize drawings will be held at 3:30 pm for all attendees. The event will again include a color splash (similar to a color run so come prepared to get covered with colors!) 5K and 3K run/walk starting at Stewart Park, racing along the Cayuga Waterfront Trail. There will be food, game booths, face painting, and fun family activities from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Cooperative Extension Education Center, 615 Willow Avenue off Rt. 13 in Ithaca. Walkers, runners, strollers, kids are all welcome to participate.
