ITHACA, N.Y. — Up to 50 mph winds are expected to cause downed power lines and tree branches through early Tuesday morning in Tompkins County.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and hazardous weather outlook in the county until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The advisory is recommending that people secure loose objects that are outside and keep a firm grip on steering wheels when driving.
The advisories are also issued in surrounding counties, such as Schuyler, Cortland, Chemung and Oneida.
According to the New York State Electric & Gas website, about 100 people in Tompkins County are without power as of about 10:30 p.m. In Seneca County, 375 people are reporting power outages around the same time.
