Lawyer Nathan Lyman, of Fane’s Ithaca Renting Company, spoke on behalf of the space owner Jason Fane, who owns the space under Fane Enterprises, Inc. The storefronts are managed by Ithaca Renting.

Lyman said the storefronts are undergoing both aesthetics and city compliance renovations.

“As part of the project, we will be restoring cast-iron columns and installing new windows, doors handicapped bathrooms and other updated amenities,” Lyman said. “The exterior will be accented with slab granite both below the windows and above the transom glass.”

He said the designs were meant to compliment the new Commons and keep in line with with the original appearance of the buildings.

A new tenant, Lyman said, will hopefully be announced in the storefront on the west end of the Cigar Factory building.

Other renovations are also happening at 117 N. Tioga Street and the bank building at the corner of North Tioga and East State streets.
