ITHACA, NY – Cornell University Police are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred early Sunday morning.

Below is a statement released by the Cornell University Police on Sunday.

The Cornell University Police are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Sunday Jan. 31, 2016.

On Sunday afternoon, a female student reported she was sexually assaulted after the perpetrator led her to a bedroom at 2 Forest Park Lane.

The perpetrator was described as a white male, approximately 170 pounds and around 5-feet 9-inches to 5-feet 10-inches-tall with a medium complexion, wavy dark brown or black hair that is almost collar length.

The Cornell University Police Department asks the public for assistance in identifying the suspect. Anyone who may have information is asked to call the Cornell University Police at 607-255-1111.

The Cornell University Police also urges anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to call 911 so police can assist getting to safety, receive emergency health care for injuries (appropriate to your circumstance), get access to supportive services and take a report of the crime if you choose to do so.
