ITHACA, NY – Homegrown gym, Ithaca’s newest CrossFit box, is celebrating the start of it’s third year in style! CrossFit of Ithaca is moving and expanding.

Currently CFI operates out of 800Sqft of floor space outside of Ithaca toward Newfield, with only one small bathroom and a tiny office. The new location at 624 West Green Street will have nearly 3,000sqft of floor space, two bathrooms, two separate rooms for showers, a lounge, a front desk, and a huge office overlooking the whole facility.

Everyone at CFI is super excited about the move. It is going to be a huge change for CFI, with a much better location and much more space!

At CFI you will find a wide variety of individuals. From soccer moms, kids, grandma’s, and pregnant women, to elite athletes. CrossFit’s philosophy is that what we need differs by degree, not kind.

CrossFit is “constantly varied functional fitness that is performed at high intensity.” Functional: you need to squat in order to sit on the toilet, you need to pull to get things off the ground, and you need to push to get yourself off the floor. CFI prepares you for everyday life.

Convenient enough, CFI offers a free one on one intro session to anyone that is interested in learning more about CrossFit. During the intro, you learn about CrossFit, review your goals, and get a sample workout to get the feel for it.

Do I need to be “in-shape” to do CrossFit? Absolutely not! CFI will help you get to healthiest version of yourself.

Owner Jared Jordan

“There is very few things that I truly cherish in life; family, racing, and CrossFit of Ithaca. I’ve been coaching CrossFit for 4 years. I started coaching in 2011 at CrossFit Great Barrington in Great Barrington, MA. In 2013 Nina and I decided to venture off and make a career doing what we love. We opened CrossFit of Ithaca in February 2014. My inspiration comes from the CFI community. From the competitive athletes, to the stay at home moms, grandmothers and grandfathers. My job at CFI, as head coach, is my passion. Everyday I wake up and get to do what I love. My goal is to give you and every CFI member a better, happier, healthier life!”

Owner Ninca Cobb

“My dreams growing up have always been to own and manage my very own fitness facility. I thought I would go through college and go on to become a personal trainer at a private studio. That was until I found CrossFit. I never really thought of becoming a CrossFit coach because, honestly, I didn’t think I could do it. CrossFit is for elite athletes, that’s what I told myself anyways. I could never do that! Until I finally worked up the courage to walk into CrossFit Great Barrington to see what CrossFit was really about first hand. I was immediately hooked and quickly realized that CrossFit is for everyone, not just elite level competitors. After training CrossFit for awhile, I decided that the best way to accomplish my goals of bettering others was to open a CrossFit box. CrossFit has changed my life, and I want to change yours!”
