According to the Bernie Sanders website, Zack Exley, a Sanders representative, will be speaking with local supporters.
The website states, “We will discuss progress of getting Bernie on the ballot in NY, and how to rapidly grow our movement in the next several months as we enter the primary season. There are lots of things we can do right now in New York to help Bernie win in the early primary states and here at home.”
Over 100 people have signed up to attend the event as of Thursday afternoon. It’s happening at 7 p.m. at The Space @ GreenStar, located at 701 W. Buffalo St.
The Ithaca Voice reported in October that Ithaca was a hotbed for Sanders supporters. The politician, at the time, had about triple the amount of funding as Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
As of Thursday, though, Sanders’ funding lead in the 14850 area code has diminished, according to the Federal Election Commission.
He has $34,818 worth of individual donations from people with a 14850 area code. From the same area code, Clinton has $240,216 and Republican nominee Jeb Bush has $7,750. Both Bush and Clinton have the most funding in the state of New York for their political parties.
