ITHACA, NY – A Tompkins man was indicted Dec. 22 by a grand jury on seven counts in regards to a Sept. 25 incident in Tompkins County.

During the course of the incident, the man allegedly assaulted someone, stole a credit or debit card, damaged property, violated an order of protection, illegally restrained a person and prevented a person from accessing emergency assistance.
Demaija U. Stewart, 36, is accused of the following felonies: second-degree assault, aggravated criminal contempt in violation of an order of protection and fourth-degree grand larceny.
Stewart is also accused of four misdemeanors: two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and petit larceny.
Stewart was charged on Oct. 6. He has since been released from Tompkins County Jail on bail.
