ITHACA, NY – Start off the New Year by making a healthy resolution you will love to keep: a breathtaking hike at Taughannock Falls. Join the Finger Lakes Regional Educator for a hike down and back on the Gorge Trail, up to the Overlook, across to the multi-use trails, and back to the parking lot.

Hot drinks and light snacks will be available before and after the hike! Plan on being outside for at least two hours (more if you hike all 5 miles), so dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. If there is enough snow, feel free to bring your snowshoes or cross country skis. We will meet at the start of the Gorge Trail by Route 89.

Hike starts at 1 p.m. on January 1, so you can still sleep in.

Topics Include…

  • Local Geology
  • Local History
  • Invasive Species
  • Optical Illusion @ Taughannock Falls
  • Cool Trivia and More : )

We walk for a 0.25 to 0.5 miles, stop so everyone can catch up, and then talk about the above topics.   Later this week, we will be posting on Facebook the First Saturday Hikes that will start in February.
