ITHACA, N.Y. –A convicted Elmira rapist never checked in to an Ithaca address he was reportedly living at and instead fled to the Bronx, records show.
Carl B. Tate, 36, was convicted of third-degree rape of a 15-year-old girl in 2005 after being charged by the Elmira City Police in Chemung County, court records show.
He was released from prison in January 2015 and has changed addresses several times over the past few months, most recently on Oct. 15, 2015.
Records show that Tate was released from the Elmira Correctional Facility on the same day, gave a fake address to officials and immediately went to Brooklyn where he did not inform police of his new address.
Ithaca police charged him on Dec. 9 with felony failure to register as a sex offender.
Tompkins County Jail officials said Friday morning that he is still in custody.
