ITHACA, NY – Verizon workers plan to gather at Ithaca’s Verizon location and dozens of other locations across the east coast to protest the corporation’s “corporate greed.”

It’s there that the similarities end, as the Verizon rally is also in solidarity with a former Verizon employee and labor leader who was “illegally fired to silence and terrorize her co-workers,” according to a press release.

The rally is also framed as a protest against Verizon’s “corporate greed.” Other major complaints include extreme wage inequality in the company, Verizon’s failure to follow through on it’s promises to deliver FiOS internet, and declining telephone service despite increased rates.

This isn’t the first time Verizon has been the target of a demonstration in Ithaca. New York State Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton participated in a 2011 rally contesting similar issues, according to the Ithaca Times.
