Aidan B. McCarthy, 19, was pulled over by Cornell University Police for driving while intoxicated, shortly after midnight on 930 Campus Road, court records show.

When officials pulled McCarthy over, they said they became aware that the white Hyundai sedan he was driving was not his.

The records show that shortly afterward, a Newfield resident who had been drinking at Moonies Bar & Nightclub on the Commons realized that his vehicle was missing from the second floor of the Green Street Parking Garage. He’d left the keys in the vehicle’s center consul.

Officers were able to get in contact with the vehicle owner who met them in the parking lot of the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, where his vehicle was located.

Upon arrival, the driver told officers that McCarthy caused a lot of damage to the left side of the vehicle and area near the left headlight, an Ithaca Police Department voluntary statement says.

McCarthy is charged with felonies for fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth-degree grand larceny. He’s also facing a misdemeanor charge for fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Cornell police charged him with driving while intoxicated.

An Ithaca City Court clerk said he’s schedule to be arranged on Nov. 18.
