Kirk Preuss, 51, of Ohio, was found dead in Ithaca Fall Wednesday afternoon.

According to a news release by the Ithaca Police Department, “The autopsy determined that no criminal act was deemed to have played a role in the cause of death.”

Officer Jamie Williamson said yesterday that officers were called to the falls around 2:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a body was found on the creek bank.

He said the man was found between the second Stewart Avenue bridge and the next large waterfall by Lake Street.

The Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance also responded to the scene and assisted in removing the body from the area.

Williamson said it is unclear what the man was doing in Ithaca or what his affiliation to the area might have been.
