ITHACA, NY – Catholic Charities Tompkins/Tioga is currently collecting disposable diapers to aid local families in need.  The drive will continue through Tuesday, November 24.  Donations of new or partial packs of disposable diapers can be dropped off at the Ithaca YMCA, 50 Graham Road West, or at Catholic Charities, 324 West Buffalo Street, both in Ithaca.  All sizes are welcomed, especially sizes 3 through 6.

Virginia Ubari, Director of Catholic Charities’ Samaritan Center, oversees the distribution of emergency assistance to low income families.  She reports, “Diapers are an expensive item for low income families.  All too often, when families cannot afford to purchase an adequate supply of diapers, they over use them, resulting in diaper rash and poor hygiene.   We welcome any community members whose kids have outgrown the need for diapers but who still have partial packs of any size diaper tucked away in their homes to bring them to the collection boxes at the YMCA or Catholic Charities.”
