ITHACA, N.Y. — The AC Moore franchise at the Shops at Ithaca Mall will be closing in December, according to mall officials.

AC Moore has operated out of the mall since around 2002. The retail chain sells arts and craft supplies, as well as “seasonal decor and custom framing,” according to its website.

About 30 employees stand to lose their jobs as a result of the store’s closure, according to an AC Moore who would only comment on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter.

“Of course, I’m worried” about the employees, the manager said.

The store’s last day will be on Dec. 23.

Gina Speno, general manager at the Shops of Ithaca Mall, confirmed on Wednesday that the store would be closing.

“We have another tenant who will be taking that location,” Speno said.

Speno said she couldn’t disclose who the new tenant would be — “we are not in a position to announce that at this time,” she said.

Speno noted that she was busy during the holiday season at the mall. She also said that the mall has an Auntie Anne’s pretzel shop under construction and that a Sears had just opened.
