The condition and identities of the victims has not been released.

Trumansburg firefighters were called to the intersection of Perry City and Podunk Road for a 2-car collision with injuries.

There, they found two vehicles “with major damage after what appeared to be a high speed collision, with one vehicle overturned in a ditch,” Scherer wrote in a news release.

Twenty to 30 emergency personnel worked the scene, extricating the patients from their cars and stabilizing them before loading them into LifeNet and Guthrie Air helicopters.

The patients were then taken to Robert Packer Medical Center in Sayre, Pa.

The exact cause of the accident is yet unknown and will be under investigation.  Mecklenburg Fire Department, NY State Police, Park Police, and Tompkins County Sheriff Office also assisted on the call.
