ITHACA, N.Y. — Corks & More, a popular wine bar on Ithaca’s west-end waterfront, will be open for the last time on Friday, according to 14850.com.

Ithaca dining guru Mark H. Anbinder reports that the specialized wine bar will close its location at 708 West Buffalo Street, but notes that the wine lounge’s owners are looking to reopen in a different space. The details of the new establishment haven’t yet been made clear.

Anbinder writes:

BJ Bliss, owner of Corks & More and the newer Red’s Place on Aurora Street in Downtown Ithaca, says the west end wine bar’s last night will be Friday, October 30th. Since they’re closed on Sundays and Mondays, that means they’ll be open Tuesday through Friday for their final week.

Don’t despair! Bliss says the crew is working on finalizing a new location, and they’ll share the details with us when they’re ready. The new spot will most likely open “after the holidays,” he tells us.

According to VisitIthaca.com, Corks & More offers more than 40 wines by the taste in addition to a tapas menu.

As the visitor’s bureau describes, Corks & More allowed customers to purchase cards with credit which they could in turn use to pour wine from automated nozzles mounted on the store’s walls.

The winery also had an active music scene — one especially popular when its outdoor decks became available in the summer months.

We hope to follow-up on this story this week, but for now it seems worth noting that Corks & More enjoyed a devoted following in town.

Here, for instance, is one Yelp reviewer’s take on the winery:

“Wow. What a wonderful place and a wonderful idea. Wine is dispensed from machines along the wall. You buy a card for $2 (refundable if u give the card back) and use it to buy and full your own glasses.

White, red, bubbly, all varieties and regions. NYS obviously,  Italian, California, etc. what a great variety and selection.”

And another:

We have been to Corks and More time and time again and always enjoy the experience. The service is great, wine and beer selection is great, food is terrific and consistent, it’s clean, music is always nice, fireplace and cozy couches are very inviting.

We always leave smiling.  We highly recommend it.
