ITHACA, N.Y. – A man is in custody for committing three lewd acts at Cornell’s east campus, police said.

Floyd G. Slater Jr., 23, of Newfield, is charged with a misdemeanor for public lewdness, Cornell University Police said in a news release.
Officials released the following details about the incidents Slater is linked to:
On Oct. 20, a woman parking her vehicle observed a male sitting in a vehicle and masturbating. On Oct. 27, Cornell Police received two separate reports of a male in a vehicle yelling lewd comments and making lewd gestures towards the victims, both females.
Slater was arraigned in the town of Ithaca and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. Police said further charges are pending.
Officials said Slater is also a registered sex offender and, according to online documents, he was convicted May 23, 2013 of felony second-degree attempted rape of a 14-year-old girl. The document states that Slater was sentenced to 6 months in jail and 10 years of probation.
Slater is not a Cornell student or employee.
