ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca police have taken a man into custody who they was in a sleeping Collegetown woman’s apartment and fled after she woke up.

John Hodge, 51, of Ithaca, was taken into custody after a woman reported a man running from her bedroom around 7:08 a.m. Thursday on the 400 block of Elmwood Avenue, police said in a news release.
Officers responding to the scene created a perimeter and found Hodge in a nearby basement. They said the woman identified Hodge as the man who was in her bedroom.
Police said a photo of Hodge is not being released at this time.
Hodge was charged with misdemeanors for second-degree criminal trespass, third-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal tampering.
He was arraigned in Ithaca City Court in front of Judge Miller.
The Tompkins County District Attorneys Office recommended a $10,000 cash bail and Hodge was remanded to the Tompkins County jail in lieu of posting $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond.
