COVERT, N.Y. — One person was airlifted to a hospital after a roll-over crash near Covert in Seneca County on Sunday night, according to the Trumansburg Fire Department.

The man has not been identified.

Lt. Dan Scherer, spokesperson for the Trumansburg Fire Department, said that Trumansburg Fire and Ambulance were called to a roll-over crash on Arden Road in Seneca County around 8:25 p.m. Sunday night.

Crews found the truck off the road and on its side with the driver still inside. The driver was extricated from the vehicle and then transported up a ravine using a basket secured with ropes, Scherer said.

The victim, believed to be in his 40’s, was taken via ambulance to a landing zone before being flown by LifeNet to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

Scherer did not know the status of the victim.
