ITHACA, N.Y. – Saturday September 19 is Thank A Police Officer Day.   The Whole Truth Project, a group that supports and advocates for law enforcement officers, started Thank A Police Officer Day — which happens each September when we take time to show our appreciation.

The Tompkins County Law Enforcement Officer Wives are asking the community to show their support for officers by wearing blue ribbons, displaying blue porch lights, hanging large blue ribbons on their trees and/or by simply taking a moment to thank a police officer for their service, if given the opportunity.

This day is a great opportunity for the silent majority to show their appreciation and remind our officers who work tirelessly that their service is appreciated and does not go unnoticed.  The simple gesture of a “Thank You” means more than you can imagine to these men and women who protect and serve your community.

The Tompkins County LEO Wives formed in 2013 with a mission to increase awareness and gain support in the community.  Follow them on Facebook to see all that your officers and deputies are doing in Tompkins County at our Facebook page.
