Police were called at 2:48 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of Old Stage Road and Lick Street in the town of Groton for a report of a two-vehicle accident. Initial reports indicated that three vehicles were involved in the incident.

Officials said Linda R. Corcoran, 69, of Groton, tried to make a U-turn at the intersection and hit a vehicle being driven by Jennie E. Rinchack, of Groton, who was driving west on Old Stage Road. Rinchack’s vehicle was knocked off the road and hit a tree.

Rinchack was taken by Groton Ambulance to Cortland Hospital with injuries that are not life threatening. Corcoran was not injured in the accident.

Police said Corcoran was charged with failure to yield and is scheduled to appear in the town of Groton Court.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the name of the person transported to the hospital. It has been corrected.
