Randy P. Zahradnik

Randy P. Zahradnik, 37, will serve the three years and also faces 10 years of post-release supervision. Courthouse officials confirmed the news on Friday after it was first reported by The Ithaca Journal on Thursday.

The three year prison sentence was for the violation of probation charge, courthouse officials said. Zahradnik was also sentenced to one to three years on a concurrent sentence for failing to register as a sex offender, a different charge, they said.

Zahradnik was convicted in 2011 for raping a 14-year-old girl.

He was originally sentenced to six months in jail and 10 years of probation, according to the Tompkins County Sex Offender registry.

An earlier news release said Zahradnik was arrested on June 20 with help from the Tompkins County Probation Department, the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office and the Trumansburg Village Police Department. He had been declared wanted earlier that week.
