Allen L. Little, 47, of Freeville, was driving southwest on Fall Creek Road around 1:20 p.m. when he drifted into oncoming traffic, said Sgt. Michael Soroka, of the New York State Police.
He said one vehicle swerved to avoid hitting Little, who self-corrected his vehicle and went back into his lane. Heidi E. Lieb-Graney, 49, of Etna, however, swerved left to avoid hitting him and their vehicles collided in the southbound lane.
“Don’t ever swerve left. Always swerve right,” Soroka said.
Lieb-Graney was taken to Cayuga Medical Center with minor injuries.
Little, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
Soroka said the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending the outcome of the case.
