ITHACA, N.Y. — Emma Court, a recent Cornell graduate who wrote for the Ithaca Voice while a student at the university, will be reporting on the 2016 presidential election as an intern with the Wall Street Journal this fall.

“I’ve always wanted to try my hand at political reporting, so this’ll be a great opportunity to do just that,” Court says in an email on Monday.
Court is currently writing features for the Dallas Morning News in Texas, and has so far covered Harper Lee’s new book and Caitlyn Jenner’s significance for transgender people in Dallas, among other topics. Previously, Court also interned at CNN and The Miami Herald.
In 2014, while with the Ithaca Voice, Court did extensive reporting on the city of Ithaca — covering important trials and major public policy debates.

Court says she’s excited to move to the Wall Street Journal’s Washington, D.C., bureau after a summer spent trying “to not melt in the 100 plus degree weather that graces this fair state.”
“Any and all House of Cards references are welcome and appreciated,” she adds.
