Ithaca, N.Y. — Gov. Andrew Cuomo has reversed his decision to ban hydraulic fracturing in New York state and will make the controversial gas drilling practice legal immediately, anonymous sources have told the Ithaca Voice.
Ithaca will be the first site of fracking in New York state, with 67 different locations in the Ithaca area expected to be fracked by late next week, sources close to the governor say.
“To hell with those Ithaca hippies,” Cuomo said, according to anonymous sources.
“They voted for Zephyr Teachout; give me one good reason I should try to protect their drinking water.”
Here are some of the 67 sites where we have confirmed that fracking will soon begin in Ithaca:
As of press time, it wasn’t clear how local officials would react to the stunning announcement. But anonymous sources did remind the Ithaca Voice that IT’S APRIL FOOL’S DAY.
