Why I Shop Downtown

Ithaca, N.Y. — Smoke from the fire at The Chapter House in Ithaca’s Collegetown Tuesday morning could be seen from as far away as South Hill.

Here’s a photo posted by Riley Ludwig, Ithaca College class of 2018 and assistant news director of WICB, on Tuesday morning:

The photo above was taken by Ludwig from Ithaca College’s West Tower near Gym Road.

That’s a little over 2 miles from the 400 block of Stewart Avenue, the site of the historic Chapter House bar, according to Google Maps.

One person is unaccounted for in the blaze at The Chapter House. Crews found heavy fire at the site and have been working the scene for several hours; motorists are urged to avoid the 400 block of Stewart Avenue.

We’ll continue to provide updates as they become available.
