Ithaca, N.Y. — The Ithaca Police Department announced Wednesday afternoon that the drugged man who fell through a Planned Parenthood drop-ceiling earlier today had tried starting a fire in a bathroom.

Here’s what we learned from the police statement issued at about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday:

— The man’s name: The intruder has been identified as Adam Smith, 32. He is homeless, police say.

— What he looks like: Police released the following mugshot of Smith:

The charges filed against Smith: Smith has been charged with criminal mischief in the second degree, a Class D Felony, and arson in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor.

— Where Smith tried starting the fire: “Police investigators located evidence inside the building that Smith had attempted to start a fire inside of the bathroom,” the statement said.

— How Smith was found: According to the latest statement, “Officers as well as IPD K9 Bert searched the building and located the subject inside of a room in the building.”

— When Smith entered the facility: Smith first entered the Planned Parenthood at about 9:13 a.m., the police statement said.
