Ithaca, N.Y. — Mayor Svante Myrick said Ithaca residents should continue to avoid Stewart Avenue on Wednesday after a fire yesterday rendered two buildings “total losses.”

“The site is secured by IFD and IPD as the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing so please plan to avoid Stewart Avenue today,” Myrick said.

Myrick said the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Arson has not been ruled out, but police have given no indication to think that the fire was in fact connected to a criminal action.
