Ithaca, N.Y. — A Trumansburg man has been accused of robbing a smoke shop on West State Street.

Alan Richards, 40, has been charged with third-degree robbery, the Ithaca Police Department said in a statement on Thursday. The robbery occurred on Wednesday.

Richards was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and sent to the Tompkins County Jail on $5,000 cash and $10,000 bond.

IPD said yesterday that the suspect entered the business and threatened the female clerk before demanding money from the register. Cash was turned over; no weapon was displayed.

The robbery occurred at 3:48 p.m. “The suspect fled the business on foot and was last seen running north on N. Geneva Street,” a press release said.
