Ithaca, N.Y. — A deer jumped through and shattered the glass window of a computer store’s storage area in Ithaca on Wednesday before just as suddenly jumping back out and running away, according to a store employee.

Around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a stray deer “jumped through the glass window, jumped back out and then ran across the street,” said Neal Racinowski of the Computer Room at 619 West State Street.

“It is pretty insane,” Racinowski said.

There was no one in the room at the time — the deer entered a vacant space used for storage. Racinowski said he saw the deer after it left the store. There was also blood on the shattered glass inside the store, he said.

There’s also some property damage and the window is broken, Racinowski said.

The Tompkins County 911 Dispatch Center said the store would have to be evacuated.

But there were no reports of any injuries — to people, at least.

“We don’t know about the deer,” Racinowski said.
