Ithaca, N.Y. — The head shop Jabberwock is moving off of the Ithaca Commons after 17 years, according to the store’s staff.
Jabberwock — which also offers crystals, clothing and more — will still be in business, and now operate a stone’s throw away out of a space by the State Theatre of Ithaca on West State Street, according to Gary Ferguson, executive director of the Downtown Ithaca Alliance.
The store had left some clothing and other items outside of its store this weekend, announcing its moving sale.
Jabberwock posted on Facebook a few weeks ago:
BIG MAMMA JAMMA SALE going on right now until who knows when? We’re talkin’ 50% (FIFTY PERCENT) and MORE off of TONS of stuff, shop wide!
… Wanna buy a display case? We got you. Want a FREE cup of hot tea? We got you. Wanna jam? We got you.
Ferguson said he didn’t know what would be going in Jabberwock’s space, on the west end of the Commons. He also didn’t want to speculate on why Jabberwock might be moving.
Jabberwock is perhaps the best known of several head shops on the Commons. You can read more about the head shops of Ithaca here.
