Ithaca, N.Y. — The best defense for our current sub-zero temperatures will have to include the essentials: Lots of blankets, hot tea on the stove, and a furry pet (or two).

But thinking warm thoughts probably helps, too. With that in mind — and given the fact that temperatures aren’t really supposed to rise until Tuesday — we thought we’d turn to you for advice: What are the best songs to help you get through an Ithaca deep freeze?

Below are the 5 we came up with; jump over to our Facebook page to leave your favorite:

1 — Light My Fire (The Doors)

Key line:  “Come on baby, light my fire/Come on baby, light my fire/Try to set the night on fire.”

2 — Sunshine (Atmosphere)

Key line: “Sunshine, sunshine, it’s fine/ I feel it in my skin, warming up my mind,/ Sometimes you gotta give in to win,/ I love the days when it shines, whoa let it shine.”

3 — Mr. Blue Sky (Electric Light Orchestra)

Key line: “Sun is shinin’ in the sky/ There ain’t a cloud in sight/ It’s stopped rainin’/Everybody’s in a play/ And don’t you know/ It’s a beautiful new day.”

4 — Summer Girls (LFO)***

Key line: “Yeah…I like it when the girls stop by.. In the summer/ Do you remember, Do you remember?/…when we met..That summer??”

5 — Summer Nights (From Grease)

Key line: “Summer lovin’, had me a blast/ Summer lovin’, happened so fast/ Met a girl crazy for me/ Met a boy cute as can be/ Summer days drifting away/ To, uh oh, those summer nights.”

*** This is actually a terrible song but we couldn’t help include it.
