Around 11:58 p.m. on Friday, police were called to the intersection of Graham Road and North Triphammer Road in the village of Lansing for a report of a crash. There, they found 12 damaged mailboxes “scattered about” Graham Road, the sheriff’s office said.
Cayuga Heights Police then found a blue Ford Taurus in the parking lot of Party City with “damage that would be consistent with hitting several mailboxes,” according to the statement.
Joshua A. Johnson, 32, of Syracuse, was then identified as the driver. A further investigation found that Johnson was driving under the influence of drugs, according to law enforcement.
Johnson now faces the following charges:
— Driving while impaired by drugs;
— Aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle;
— Criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree;
— Failure to keep right
— Moving from the lane unsafely
— Leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
He has been sent to jail, the statement said.
