Thieves in North Carolina have stolen a Purple Heart and other military medals from the family of slain Ithaca Marine Christopher Bordoni, according to local news reports.

Reports Kasey Cunningham of WECT-6:

The thieves broke into Jessica Bordoni’s house on Wednesday evening. She discovered her husband’s military gun, jewelry, wedding ring, and other items missing.

… The thieves also took something irreplaceable for Bordoni, her husband Corporal Chris Bordoni’s military medals.

Specifically, his Purple Heart, and his Naval Achievement Medal with Valor were stolen.

Bordoni, an Ithaca High School graduate, died after he was wounded in Afghanistan in 2012.

Police in Wilmington, North Carolina, are investigating the case.
