Newfield, N.Y. — A man has been arrested and charged with two felonies in a stabbing in Ithaca that sent one person to the hospital on Sunday night.

Travis L. Anderson, 29, of Newfield, has been charged with the felonies of first-degree burglary and second-degree assault, as well as two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say Anderson kicked in the door of an apartment at West Hill Circle in Ithaca at about 7:20 p.m. yesterday. Anderson’s children and ex-girlfriend were inside the apartment with Duane Barrett Jr. 23, of Ithaca.

Anderson then stabbed Barrett in the lower back, according to law enforcement. Barrett was taken to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment and later released.

Anderson was arrested at around 11:30 p.m. last night and arraigned in Ithaca Town Court.

He is now in jail.
