Emergency responders performed “advanced life saving procedures” as the man, who has not been identified, was taken by Bangs to the Cayuga Medical Center. He was in critical condition, firefighters said.

Responders were called to the scene at 529 South Meadow Street at 12:58 p.m.

They later determined that the driver had a medical emergency, leading to the accident.

IFD assessed the building for damage and the City of Ithaca Building Department was also called to the scene. Ithaca police assisted on scene and investigated the accident.
