Ithaca, N.Y. — One person was taken to the hospital as a precaution Tuesday morning after a van crashed on a snowy Ithaca road.

Ithaca firefighters and police were called to Route 79 east of its intersection with Cornell Street.

Emergency crews had Route 79 closed off as far west as its intersection with Mitchell Street in lower Collegetown. Initial dispatch reports indicated that the van struck a tree.

NYSEG was also called to the scene.

The Tompkins County 911 Dispatch Center said snowy roads had only caused minimal problems Tuesday morning.
