Ithaca, N.Y. — One Ithaca teenager has been accused of falsely reporting that she was forcibly raped and another has been accused of illegally having sex with a minor, according to state police Senior Investigator Rick Haas.

Lucas Crawford, 18, has been charged with sexual misconduct, a misdemeanor, for having sex with a minor, according to Haas. Crawford was arrested on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the minor has been charged with providing false information during her initial report, Haas said. The 14-year-old girl — whose name has not been released — was charged with making a punishable false written statement and falsely reporting an incident. Both charges are misdemeanors.

The girl told police that she was forcibly raped, but authorities later determined that this was untrue, according to Senior Investigator Haas.

Crawford was 17 when the incident occurred on July 11, 2014, according to state police records.
