Ithaca, N.Y. — An Ithaca man has been charged with two felonies after he did not follow the instructions of an off-duty police officer, according to a statement from the Ithaca Police Department.

Darryl Wilson, 33, of Ithaca has been charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and menacing a police officer. He was arrested outside the 100 block of Chestnut Street.

Here’s the account police gave of the 3:57 p.m. incident:

An off-duty cop who lives in the area heard a commotion coming from the property and responded to the house.

Arriving before the uniformed police, the off-duty cop found Wilson with a knife. Wilson pointed the knife at the cop and ignored the cop’s commands to drop the weapon.

Other officers got to the scene shortly thereafter and arrested Wilson. Both he and Angela Whitted, 28, of Ithaca, were arrested for their involvement in the domestic dispute, according to the Ithaca Police Department.
