Ithaca, N.Y. — A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing on the 300 block of West State Street that occurred Tuesday afternoon.
Police officers arriving outside the Tompkins County Department of Social Services building around 3:11 p.m. found a victim bleeding from cuts to the face and upper torso.
Officers learned that the victim’s assailant had run away shortly before the police arrived. They quickly located and arrested Jedidiah Suber.
“Information was developed that the suspect and the victim were related to each other and that the suspect fled the area on foot just prior to police arrival,” Officer Jamie Williamson said.
Suber, of Ithaca, has since been charged with the felonies of second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is in IPD custody.
The victim was taken by Bangs Ambulance to a local hospital. A press release did not detail the extent of his injuries.
Witnesses at the scene said that they saw a man bleeding from the face.
A crowd gathered outside the Human Services Building and discussed what had occurred. One woman, Vonnie Dawson Roberts, said she called 911 after seeing a man bleeding in the parking lot of the human services building.
