Ithaca, N.Y. — The person who told Ithaca College authorities that he was sexually assaulted on campus has admitted that he was not in fact attacked.

IC sent out a public safety alert this weekend saying that a male victim had reported being sexually assaulted shortly after midnight on Sunday.

The attack was reported to have occurred on the walking trail behind Wood Field between Circle Apartments and the Terraces, and the victim provided descriptions of the supposed suspect.

Now, however, IC officials say that this report was “unfounded.”

“The investigation is continuing, but the complainant has acknowledged that he was not assaulted,” IC said on Tuesday.

IC urges anyone with information about the incident to call  607-274-3333.
