Ithaca, N.Y. — The judge who sentenced Ithaca drones protester Mary Anne Grady Flores to a year in jail has since received anti-Semitic hate mail, according to a report out today in The Syracuse Post-Standard.
Dewitt Town Judge David S. Gideon delivered the sentence to Grady Flores, a grandmother, in July.
Some immediately denounced the decision as harsh. Others have since emailed Gideon, who is Jewish, anti-Semitic hate mail, according to The Post-Standard. Gideon has received messages from places ranging from Baltimore, Maryland, to the Netherlands.
The Post-Standard reports:
“Would you please take early retirement soon and move to the country of your forebears?” reads one e-mail.
Another e-mail reads “Please convey to the Dishonorable David S. Gideon that he should go f— himself for abusing the law, acting as a fascist and sentencing a 58-year-old grandmother to jail for a peaceful protest.”
