Cortlandville, N.Y. — State troopers from Homer and Ithaca responded to an accident involving a tractor trailer on Interstate 81 just south of Exit 11.
The accident resulted in the trailer falling into the Tioughnioga River near the Cortland County town of Cortlandville.
The driver was Robinson B. Jaquez, 31, of Lancaster, Pa., and was not injured.
He was driving the tractor northbound on I-81. During the accident, the trailer became detached and fell into the river.
Jaquez, from Lancaster, Pa., was driving a 2007 Volvo Tractor owned by Transcom Corp. in Pennsylvania.
The cause of the accident is being investigated. All lanes of I-81 are open but the northbound Exit 10 detour has been stopped.
