Ithaca, N.Y. — A storm in Ithaca Tuesday evening has closed a portion of Hanshaw Road and caused around 1,924 NYSEG customers to lose power.

The Tompkins County 911 Center said around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday that Hanshaw Road had been closed near Pleasant Grove Road.

The Wegmans off Route 13 was also briefly closed, according to a staff member there, but reopened after the backup generator kicked in.

“Some things are down, but you can still purchase groceries,” the Wegmans employee said, adding that the pharmacy was closed for now.
